John Ashton, the veteran character actor best known for his role as detective sergeant John Taggart in the 'Beverly Hills Cop' franchise, has died at the age of 76. Ashton passed away after a battle with cancer on September 29, 2024. He was also known for his roles in 'Midnight Run' and 'Some Kind of Wonderful.' His death was confirmed by his publicist, Alan Somers.
