China Approves Nine Automakers for L3/L4 Autonomous Driving Pilot Projects
Jun 5, 2024, 01:17 AM
China has approved nine automakers to start pilot projects for smart vehicles and vehicle-road-cloud integration. The automakers include Chana, BYD, GAC, SAIC, BAIC, FAW, Hongyan, Yutong, and NIO. This marks China's first approval for public trials of advanced autonomous driving. BYD, which was the first automaker to obtain an L3 ADAS test license, is now part of the initial batch selected for intelligent connected vehicle access and road access pilot projects. NIO also made the list of L3/L4 autonomous driving pilot automakers. The approvals were issued by the MIIT and three other departments.
