North Korea Fires Two Ballistic Missiles Toward Sea of Japan, One Possibly Fails
Jun 30, 2024, 09:49 PM
North Korea has fired two ballistic missiles, including one short-range missile, in the direction of the Sea of Japan. The launch occurred early Monday morning, with detections at 5:05 and 5:15 AM by South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff. The first missile flew around 600 kilometers, while the second flew approximately 120 kilometers. South Korea's military reported that the second missile may have failed and exploded during an irregular flight, possibly raining debris inland. This missile test follows the conclusion of a joint military drill by the United States, South Korea, and Japan, and comes amid North Korea's announcement of an important ruling Workers' Party meeting set for late June and ongoing Russia treaty talks.
