WHO Confirms Mexican H5N2 Bird Flu Patient Died from Other Conditions
Jun 14, 2024, 09:30 PM
The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that a 59-year-old male resident of Mexico, initially reported to have died from a rare human case of bird flu (H5N2), actually succumbed to other severe medical conditions. The man, who was the first human confirmed to be infected with the H5N2 subtype, died from kidney and respiratory failure, according to Mexican health authorities. Despite initial fears, the WHO and Mexican authorities agree that the bird flu was not the primary cause of death.
