Nov 18, 2024, 12:43 AM
Former Australian broadcaster and rugby coach Alan Jones has been arrested by New South Wales Police over allegations of indecent assault and sexual touching offenses spanning two decades. The 83-year-old media veteran was taken from his harborside Sydney apartment to Day Street police station by detectives from a squad dedicated to investigating child abuse. He was charged with 24 offenses against eight alleged victims, including aggravated indecent assault, assault with act of indecency, sexually touching without consent, and common assault. The alleged offenses occurred between 2001 and 2019 and involved young men, including a 17-year-old boy and a former Olympic athlete. The arrest follows a nine-month investigation by detectives under Strike Force Bonnefin.
