Finnish Startup Enifer Secures €36M for First-of-its-Kind Mycoprotein Factory
May 23, 2024, 07:11 AM
Finnish biotech startup Enifer has secured €36 million in funding to build a first-of-its-kind factory dedicated to producing food-grade mycoprotein in Finland. This innovative project aims to address the global protein shortage by using sidestream materials to create a fungal protein. The factory, now fully funded and ready for construction, will utilize a unique process involving feeding a microbe air and electricity to produce protein without traditional agriculture. The project has garnered support from notable investors including Voima Ventures, FoodTech VC, Taaleri Team, Valio, and ilmastorahasto.
