Albany Man, 59, Fatally Mauled by Multiple Dogs, Police Investigate
Oct 12, 2024, 04:46 PM
Authorities in Albany, New York, are investigating a fatal dog mauling incident involving James Provost, 59, of Schenectady. Provost was found in a backyard under attack by eight or nine mixed-breed pit bulls in a horrific scene. An officer shot one of the dogs to stop the attack, causing the others to flee. A caregiver later arrived to corral the dogs. Police discovered 24 dogs at the neighboring house, including 15 puppies and eight adults. The owner of the dogs, who lives in Cohoes, is under investigation for keeping so many dogs at the location. There had been no prior complaints about the dogs, but several had been confiscated in May during a drug-related search warrant.
