Gunmen Fire at Roshan Sweets in Delhi's Nangloi Amid Extortion Surge; Police Arrest Two Suspects
Sep 29, 2024, 05:44 AM
On Saturday morning, armed men on a motorcycle fired shots at Roshan Sweets, a sweet shop located in Janata Market, Nangloi, in Delhi's Outer District. The incident put police units on high alert. Reports indicate that sweet shops and a car showroom have been receiving extortion calls, prompting the police to launch a probe into the matter. AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj commented on the situation, stating that "major gangs have become active in Delhi," with gangsters demanding extortion money from businessmen daily. He claimed that "thousands of businessmen are paying them out of fear" after receiving international calls. Bharadwaj further remarked that "Delhi has never had such a bad law and order situation," alleging that "80 out of 100 people are victims of extortion." On Sunday, the Delhi Police Special Cell apprehended two shooters involved in the recent firing at Roshan Sweets in Nangloi.
