The 2024 US Presidential election has set a new record for campaign spending, with total expenditures reaching $15.9 billion, according to data from OpenSecrets. This surpasses the previous record of $15.1 billion spent in the 2020 election. The campaigns of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden raised a combined $1 billion, which is 2.5 times more than what Donald Trump raised. The Financial Times reports that the Trump and Harris campaigns together raised $4.2 billion and spent approximately $3.5 billion by October, with over $400 million allocated to Pennsylvania alone.
