NC State Advances to Fourth College World Series After Defeating Georgia 8-5
Jun 11, 2024, 02:21 AM
NC State has secured a spot in the College World Series after defeating Georgia 8-5 in the Athens Super Regional. This marks NC State's fourth appearance in the College World Series and caps a historic year for the Wolfpack, who also made it to the men's and women's basketball Final Four and won nine football games. NC State previously allowed 11 runs to Georgia in Game 2 after scoring 18 runs in Game 1, setting up a winner-take-all Game 3. This is the second time in four years that NC State has made it to the College World Series. The College World Series will feature eight teams, all from the ACC or SEC, marking the first time two conferences have dominated the field since the 1940s. The final bracket includes four ACC teams: North Carolina, Virginia, Florida State, and NC State. The games are set to begin on Friday, with the Finals scheduled for June 22-24 in Omaha.
